The £249 annual NHS appraisal and £213 funded contribution apply to the NHS England scheme only, subject to eligibility. Appraisals for NHS clinicians in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland follow different local arrangements. Send an enquiry before booking so Mikey can check whether an independent appraisal fits your country and contract.

For specialist, non-clinical, salaried service or military roles, send an enquiry to confirm the appraisal scope and fee before booking. VAT treatment is being confirmed; the final price and any applicable VAT will be made clear before booking. NHS-funded appraisals in the other UK nations are not included in the England funding claim.

Before you book an NHS appraisal in England

  1. 1. Check eligibility. You must provide direct NHS dental care and meet the activity and continuity criteria.
  2. 2. Agree the arrangement. Confirm with your practice that an external appraiser is acceptable, and agree any UDA/payment apportionment in writing.
  3. 3. Keep to the claim window. Self-declare in Compass within two months. The £213 contribution is credited to the contract as UDAs, not paid directly.

The funded appraisal covers NHS work only. Private practice or mixed NHS and private work is covered by a separate £350 service. NHS-funded appraisals are not for salaried NHS employees on NHS terms, foundation trainees or secure-estate contracts; check current eligibility guidance if unsure.

This service does not replace an employer-led appraisal for salaried dental staff. An employer must explicitly commission and agree any external arrangement.
